Braxton gets 2nd place in the Space Derby!

We had a great time this year at the first annual Space Derby for troop #333. The boys had fun designing and painting their rockets. I loved it because the boys really can do the whole thing by themselves, there in no need to cut with major saws. All they needed was a potato peeler and sand paper. We had the derby, awards, and ended with Root Beer floats. Braxton was pleased with second place and had a fun time doing it with Mike.

Mike and Braxton adding some final touches.

The display board that they boys made as part of their requirement. I thought it turned out pretty cool.

Uncle Chad came to visit!!

Uncle Chad came to visit back in April and the boys couldn't have been more excited!! They love when their Uncle comes to visit. We grilled the first night and then Chad was nice enough to watch the boys while I went to my monthly neighborhood Ladies Bunco night and Mike went to a Stake youth activity. The boys loved that one on one time with Chad. Then Saturday we had baseball games, water balloon fights, grilling again, and some mean games of Jenga and Pass the Pigs. Sunday we all went to church and then it was time to say good bye:( Thanks for the great weekend Chad and we hope you can visit again soon!

Take Your Kids to Work Day

It was take your kids to work day and what better place to take kids than Toys R Us. The boys had so much fun. They had a photo shoot with Geoffrey, built legos, shot nerf guns at targets, tested some new products, painted T-shirts and went to lunch at Fuddruckers. Oh, and after all that, they even managed to help their Dad finish up his work before calling it a day.

Another year of Madison Little League!

The boys enjoyed another year of Little League in Madison. As usual they started out the season with the little league parade through downtown Madison. They end it at the ball field with a speech from the Mayor and ice cream at McCool's. The Dawson family helped us cheer on Braxton and Porter. They were even kind enough to make this FABULOUS banner, which B and P loved. They were the only kids in the parade that were cool enough to have a banner made by Millie.

O's game in Baltimore with the Weese Clan

During our Spring break this year we were lucky enough to have part of the Weese family come out our way. While they were here we met them in Baltimore for an Orioles game. Thanks to the Archibalds, we had some excellent tickets on the third base line. We had a great time and the weather was perfect. Braxton was even lucky enough to get a foul ball and the kids all got special treatment from the bird, bat girl and others around us.

We will all never forget our buddy, Mr. Stone, who let everyone around him know how to truly live:)

Easter 2009 - Full of family visits

We had a great Easter this year full of our typical traditions of church, easter egg hunts, coloring easter eggs. This year we enjoyed the added excitement of having family and friends in town to visit. Some of the Weese and Rich families and their friends, the Thurgoods, came to visit. We had a great time, including a trip to Baltimore for an Orioles baseball game, a visit to Princeton, a show in NYC and some good old fashion card games. It was great to have everyone here for those few days. Below is a slide show of some of the activities.

April Madness in Detroit

On a last minute whim, a few of us decided to take a trip to Detroit to see the Final Four. We all had a great time, along with the other 73,000 in attendance. Needless to say, we had to be very selective as to when we took bathroom and refreshment breaks. As fun as the games were, I think we all had more fun bartering for the extra tickets we needed. The Dr. among us, DH, is now rethinking his career path and may go into ticket brokering. Thanks to the Ellis family for putting us up and treating us all like kings while we were there. Looking forward to next year.....

Among other things, we even found some time to play a little ball ourselves, which proved to be a better game than the UNC vs. Michigan State game. It may take BJ and Jones some time to get over the loss Ellis and I handed to them. In fact, Jones went home right after and slept for 2.5 hours - he was so devastated:)

We all thought it was going to be a nice Spring day in Detroit, but instead, we received a few inches of snow on Monday just to keep things interesting.
